Champions League match day 5

Tottenham Hotspur did the job against Inter Milan to remain alive in the Champions League group. Now they will go to FC Barcelona with the mindset to win against a team that already qualified and guaranteed first place. On the other match Inter Milan will face PSV Eindhoven that only took a point in the competition.

Thus, the Italians will hope Tottenham will not win in Barcelona. With a victory the English will be guaranteed the group second place. But any other result that not as good as Inter’s performance will see the Italians go through. This drama sets us up for an amazing night on matchday 6.

Spurs coach Pochettino on the big win:

“We are alive and it was such an important performance. I’m very happy. Like I always tell you, I’m very pleased for the players and our fans. We were very patient and we managed the tempo. That’s so important to always try to play respecting our philosophy.

We scored, we deserved the victory and now we’ll be humble, try to rest and recover from the effort and prepare for another big game against Arsenal (on Sunday).

Barca have already wrapped up the group and beat PSV 2-1 on Wednesday night.

“That is what we wanted. Now we have (it) in our hands to go through to the next stage. Of course, Barcelona have qualified but we are going to try. I love to play this type of game. We are in football because of that – that is the adrenaline we love to feel.”
