Premier League Gameweek 9 preview: Chelsea – Manchester United

Manchester United will face Chelsea for an another exciting fixture to close out gameweek 9 in the Premier League. After bringing a point from Liverpool [0-0] in gameweek 8, Mourinho’s men will have to match a Chelsea team in a very good form and an outstanding Diego Costa who found the net already 7 times in the first 8 games of the campaign.

For the “Special One” it will be the return to Stamford Bridge where he built his glory in the Premier League and also by winning the Champions League with the club in 2012. Much is at stake on Sunday and take advantage of this free William Hill bet to predict the outcome of Chelsea-Man Utd.

Current Chelsea coach Antonio Conte comments on Mourinho’s expected reception:

“He was an important manager for Chelsea. With the club and the players, he wrote a part of the story of this club.

He deserves a good reception. When you win three championships you remain in the heart of the fans, that’s normal. Then, after the whistle, he becomes like the players of Manchester United, an enemy. I have great respect for him. He’s a great manager, he has won a lot in his career and I think he deserves maximum respect.’

On the other side, Man Utd only won one of last five Premier League games and the team dropped to the seventh spot in the table. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has not scored in the last four games since the Manchester derby and Wayne Rooney has been relegated to a super-sub position (in reference to Ole Gunnar Solskjær). United has slowed down after a very good start of the season with three consecutive wins and will need to bring their A game to get something out of London.

Mourinho comment o n his comeback:

“I left the club with a very good feeling. A feeling that I gave everything to succeed, I gave everything to the club and I don’t want to go back and speak especially about the bad things. I keep the good things and in Chelsea I had so many good things, so many good things in terms of results and so many good things in terms of friends that I have for life. I have an amazing empathy with the supporters.

have to try to forget it and try to do the job, you know? I played there with Inter and I tried to do my job. If you ask me if my team scores a goal, am I going to celebrate like a crazy kid? No! I think I can emotionally control that situation. Am I going to have any negative reaction if the crowd has something negative with me? No! Again, I have the maturity to control that emotion. But, what Man United fans can expect from me is more important in this moment and what the Man United fans can expect from me is that we will play against Chelsea in the same way I played against Fenerbahce, Liverpool and everyone.”

Arsenal -Middlesborough

Arsenal is the October story. The Gunners are just unstoppable lately with six straight wins in the Premier league combined with wins in the Campions League, it is clearly the team of the month and Middlesborough, coming next at the Emirates Stadium and having lost four of last five fixtures,  will likely suffer.

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger states the attitude of his team and his approach:

“I believe that humility is to understand that you start again from zero and that you are in a jungle. We live in a jungle where everybody wants to eat you, and you have to survive by keeping your vigilance. That’s what competition is about. Every day you have to fight again to survive.

“The love to win and the competitiveness of the Premier League is very exciting. We are all in that [jungle] together.”

Lastly, Tottenham and Liverpool are the other two teams with current excellent record winning four of last five games respectively. Both teams are favorite to win their matchup at Bournemouth for the Spurs and at home against West Brom for Liverpool.

We should have another exciting weekend of Premier League football with much of the attention focused on Sunday when the leader City faces Southampton and Mourinho returns to Chelsea to conclude gameweek 9!
