US National Teams Competitions
Three exciting competitions are showcasing the best players of our country. The FIFA u20 World Cup demonstrated our growing talent by defeating title favorites France 3-2. It was an epic game. The Yanks came from behind in the second half at 2-1 to win it in the last 20 minutes of the game. Forward Soto was instrumental to the win with a brace and the whole team delivered a splendid efforts.
No Limits
Our youngster have the future in front of them and will now play the South American champions Ecuador for a spot in the last 4. Out of the last eight teams in the competition, none ever won the U20 World Cup. USA have a chance to make history
The success of the youth national team should inspire the Men’s and Women’s National Teams as they march for glory in their respective tournament.
The ladies are the heavy favorites to win the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup starting shortly in France. The US will fight for first place with Sweden in group F as the other two teams Chile and Thailand should not create too much problem for the World Champions.
The USWNT could then face the host country, France, at the quarterfinal stage. The road for a 4th crown as world champion is long and it will be an exciting competition to watch for the next 35 days.
Road to Redemption
USMNT will have to fare well in the 2019 Gold Cup after the 2017 debacle. It created mockery around the world. The defeat in Trinidad and Tobago and elimination from the 2018 World Cup heavily damaged the image of soccer in the US. The Men’s team were below expectations and have much to prove. Only the win in the Gold Cup will restore respect and admiration for a team that letdown everyone two years ago.
Toronto Defender Omar Gonzalez shares his views on the Gold Cup:
“We’re on a mission now. We’re on a mission to change the way the world views us, the way we play. And we’re not taking that lightly. We want to do our job, we want to come in, we want to win this tournament, that’s our focus.
And we want every single game to continue to improve and impose ourselves on the other team and get results playing the way we want to play. That’s our mission from here on out.”
