Euro 2020 Qualifiers Week 4
The qualifiers for the UEFA 2020 Euro resumed with some noticeable information as we analyze through each group and where they stand.
Group A
England lead the group with 3 wins in 3 matches. The Three Lions disposed of Bulgaria 4-0 and should have no problem to win the group.
Coach Southgate commented on the win:
I think we improved as the game went on. Some of our attacking play was really exciting. We didn’t need to over-complicate things. We looked dangerous.
I always felt we had enough firepower to win the game. I’m not sure it’s complacency – every team will have some moments, you just have to make sure you see the runs – but I’m generally pleased.”
Group B
Ukraine extend the lead on top of group B. The important opposed Serbia to Portugal. The Nations League champions were looking for their first win in the qualifiers and they delivered big.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a goal and his team went on to grab their first victory in this campaign 4-2, taking group second place at the same time.
Group C
Northern Ireland is the surprising leader with 4 wins in 4 matches. Behind Germany and Netherlands are battling to catch up. Against the wall the Oranje brought an impressive result from Hamburg Germany 4-2, with the 4 goals being scored in the second half. Germany will now travel to Northern Ireland and need to win to stay in the race as the Dutch will be in Estonia.
Group D
Ireland, Denmark and Switzerland battle for the top places. the Swiss brought back a point from Ireland as the group remains tight and undecided half-way through.
Second half of the groups
Group E
4 teams can qualify as Hungary and Croatia share first place and Wales and Slovakia are three points behind. This is one of the most wide-opened group and very interesting. The 2018 World Cup runners-up signed a big win in Slovakia before traveling again to Azerbaijan.
Group F
Spain stay perfect with their 5th wins in 5 games. Alike England they should have no problem topping the group.
Group G
Poland lead the group in front of Austria. Both nations are the favorite to qualify.
Group H
France lead the group with Iceland and Turkey. The world champions dominated Albania 4-1 and will host again next match. The French are heavy favorites to win the group but would have to stay perfect in order to do so.
Group I
Belgium and Russia are by far ahead in the group and will battle for first place. The best team according to the FIFA rankings will be one strong favorite to win Euro 2020 Final [should they reach it] in London next year.
