MLS clash of the disappointing champions

Two Major League Soccer teams bolstering some of the best talents we have in this League with Toronto and LA Galaxy. Lots of goals [5-3] in Toronto. But, two teams that are incapable of putting a stretch of good games in a row.

This was another game where the defenders went to sleep and by no means these two teams will make the playoffs; no way!

Toronto tortured the worst defense in the League.

5-3 is our final score. First the LA Galaxy stayed in the locker room for the first 40 mins [3-0] before Zlatan Ibrahimovic shook things up and scored a wonder goal for the 500th time in his career! What a milestone only a few greats will achieve in their pro career.

Then LA Galaxy found miraculously a way to tie things up at 3-3. But hold on it’s the LA Galaxy we are talking about, a team that allowed 11 goals in the last two away games.

Make it 16!

Toronto FC scored two more goals before the game ended and LA Galaxy had let opponents score at least five goals for the third time in a row away from home. This is pathetic defense from the Galaxy and surely Zlatan Ibrahimovic and interim coach Kinnear cannot be happy about it.

The shame of Los Angeles

90SOCCER is based out of LA and our brand has been growing with the LA Galaxy through the years and 5 titles. Last year was a transition season, we get it.

But this season comes the LAFC, the new team with no past in this League but a great stadium and fan base.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic shares his thoughts on the game:

“I think we had a good game. Second half, the first 25-30 minutes I thought we did good, and I think we got overconfident, we didn’t stick to the plan, the organization and they punished us.

It was difficult because we came back from 3-0 so I think we did a good game; the guys should get compliments.  We haven’t been this organized for a while, so it was positive but still negative in the way that we lost.”

On his 500th career goal:

“I mean, from my personal objective it’s fantastic.  I probably have more goals than the guys on the field have games together.

Of course, it’s huge.  I don’t know how many have scored 500 goals in their career, but I am one of them and if would feel nicer if we win the game but still, I did it so there is nothing I will hide from.”

TFC still hopes to make playoffs

Coach Toronto FC, Vanney on the game:

“Nothing is shocking this season. I’m happy we got the win; the goal of today was to get three points and stay in the mix. We got it, not exactly how we drew it up, the start was ok obviously up 3-0 we’d like to keep control of that game and see it out a different game.

I like the fact that we’ve talked about being resilient, because things have happened over the course of this run and we have to be able to bounce back when things don’t go exactly we want them to go.

We were able to do that tonight, so I’ll take that. Like I said to the guys in there, there’s a lot of times this year that we didn’t celebrate wins like we should have. All wins are tough to come by and with this one we have to celebrate the win. Use what we need out of it and build momentum for the next one.”
