Champions League quarterfinals: PSG 2-2 City

Manchester City led the game first but let PSG comeback and on top with two goals. A late effort scratched a tie out of Paris. Next Tuesday’s rematch will be exciting to watch!

Coach Pellegrini on the strong performance:

“I always say to the players it is a game of 180 minutes so we must be intelligent and not to make too many mistakes. We must finish this game at home but you must have the personality to play no matter what pitch we play on.

Tonight we have got a good result and we must try to finish it at home but we are playing against a very good team. We started very well and tried from the beginning to score a goal because of the way we play we are not used to trying to draw. I always say that it is important to score goals away so we came here looking to score from the beginning.”

PSG is convinced they can win at Manchester City:

Laurent Blanc (Paris Saint-Germain coach)
“The 2-2 draw is not a good result. We made a lot of mistakes tonight. And City scored after two of them. That’s our main regret tonight. But we are also up against a very good Manchester City side who have a huge attacking potential. We should have scored first, but unfortunately we didn’t and City opened the scoring. We equalized and were looking good in the second half, moving ahead, before another mistake cost us that second goal.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris Saint-Germain forward)
“We made too many mistakes and Manchester City punished us. You can’t afford to make mistakes like this against a team of this quality. In the return leg, we have to play simple football and fix what didn’t work tonight. I’m confident, because I believe in myself and my team. We need to go to Manchester to win, but I’m confident. I believe in my coach and my players and I’m convinced we will do it in the return leg”.
