Premier League matchday 22: Manchester City 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester City was unable to secure the win against Tottenham. Nonetheless, the Citizens were up 2-0 thanks to two errors by the Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris. But a resilient Tottenham team found the ressources to overcome the deficit and came back in the game to preserve its unbeaten streak. Coaches react following this exciting fixture:

Man City, coach Guardiola on the performance:

“We performed outstandingly – it was a deja vu game. It was the same as Chelsea – we created a lot but we missed a lot of chances. It happened against Everton at home, it happened against Chelsea. The players played with heart but we didn’t win. It doesn’t matter, we had the same argument against Chelsea but we lost because we missed a lot of chances.

When you score a goal the ref doesn’t matter, the rules here are the rules. Except one or two games we’ve produced good performances this season. Tottenham – they are a brilliant team. We were able to make a huge performance and that’s why I am so so happy…. maybe in the future, for this Club, these games will make us stronger.”

Tottenham, coach Pochettino on the comeback draw:

“To be honest, I think they were better. In the first half they played much better than us and we didn’t play in the way we normally play, but sometimes it’s difficult to keep the momentum and play the way we normally play. It was a big challenge for us. We conceded two goals and the important thing, the positive is the massive impact of taking one point.

The belief and character we showed was fantastic and it’s for that (reason) I’m pleased, not the performance because we didn’t play in the way we wanted to play, but it’s important sometimes when you cannot play your best to believe and this was a fantastic opportunity to show that.”
