Serie A week 4
The Milano Derby is always one of the exciting games to watch not only in Italy but in the world with two iconic teams of the game. Both Inter Milan and AC Milan play in the San Siro stadium so the derby is never a disappointment. Inter Milan showed composure to win the derby 2-0 against their rivals.
This early in the season Inter Milan have shown they can be counted to play a role this season with Napoli to stop Juventus’ reign in the league. Indeed, Juve is the team to beat having won the last eight Serie A title.
Antonio Conte and Juve
Coach Conte, a former Juventus player and coach, now enjoys his run with Inter so far:
“These are always special games and never easy to win. It was my first Milan Derby and I wanted to make a good impression.
We’re certainly very satisfied, the lads played really well in all aspects. We came into this game on the back of a Champions League performance which left a bitter taste in the mouth.
This perhaps fired us up even more to tackle the Derby with the spirit and attention that was required. It was a deserved win, I’m happy for our fans and the lads.
We can’t deny that we’re happy, these wins are important because they give you self-awareness, but we all know that we still need to work a lot. In any case, there’s a lot of desire to work and this is the most important aspect. This is a good group, we’re heading in the right direction with our work and know that we need to think about the team and not individuals.”
The former Man United player recently criticized for his lack of sharpness scored his third goal so far this season and appreciates his new situation. The Belgian international commented:
“I’m really happy with this result and these three points because this is a special match. Now, we need to immediately think about the match against Lazio, which will be just as difficult.
My relationship with Conte? He’s a really good coach because he’s someone who helps players to develop a lot. At 26 years old, I needed and wanted a coach like this, one who motivates me every day. I’m really happy to be here and to be wearing this shirt.”
