La Liga week 22: Real Madrid 2-1 FC Malaga

FC Real Madrid has a slim edge over FC Sevilla, winner 4-3 at Osasuna, and FC Barcelona winner 4-0 at Eibar. Coach Zidane comments on his team’s position:

“We won the game, we started strongly and created chances. The disappointing thing is that we didn’t take all of those chances. After the game, the team were pleased because we picked up all three points despite the difficulties we had.

With the chances we had, 2-1 is a fair result. We’re struggling to score goals at the moment and our opponents are hurting us when they get on the front foot. We have to look at it calmly, because that’s how the biggest improvements are made. Now it’s time to rest up because there is another match just around the corner.

Our aim is to give everything to ensure that we lift some silverware come the end of the season. Being top at the halfway stage doesn’t count for anything, but I’d still like to congratulate everyone because it’s no mean feat and we’ve pulled it off. You’ve always got to be wary and we’ve got another game on Wednesday. What’s bothering me at the moment are the injuries”.
