La Liga News – FC Barcelona

Messi went yesterday minutes after scoring the second goal against Sevilla [4-2 Final result] and the MRI showed he fractured his arm. He will be sidelined for three weeks at least and miss El Clásico next weekend against Real Madrid.

A strong record sans Leo

Barcelona have played a total of 61 games without Lionel Messi since 2010 and have won 49 games with only 6 ties and 6 defeats. This shows that the Argentinian is best in Barça’s system and the club is a well-oiled machine that can plug in and out players to perform.

The Catalan lead La Liga so far and have won their first two games in Champions League So, there is no reason to panic and let Messi recover from the arm injury.

FC Barcelona coach, Valverde, on the win and losing Messi:

“It’s very important for us to have regained top spot in the league … This time it was us who got an early goal. The injury meant we lost some of our concentration. We played with just ten men for quite a while because we were hoping we could get Messi back out there.

Of course he’s a major loss. We know what he does for us and what our opponents think just by seeing him on the pitch. We have the players to cover for him, but we have some very tough games coming up.”
