Copa America day 2
Brazil and Argentina are on paper the two heavy favorites to win Copa America 2019. Brazil host the tournament and people have high expectations in the country. Several years of disappointment after the 2014 debacle and the 7-1 destruction against Germany, the people of Brazil need a trophy.
Brazil started off well the tournament with a win 3-0 over Bolivia but could not get the best out of Venezuela in the second game. The Brazilians will have to beat Peru to finish group A on top and avoid a possible tough draw at the quarterfinal stage.
Brazil coach, Tite on the disappointing draw:
“The decisiveness and effectiveness in football are fundamental. Today we fail in that. We have to convert those moves of play into the last third at the end. That’s what we needed in this match.
We didn’t have the creativity we were looking for. The team was a little anxious about that. We need to improve. We rushed into the finals and didn’t create opposition to the goalkeeper”.
Messi and no one else
The sad Argentinian team could not be Paraguay [1-1]. After losing their opening match to Colombia [2-0]. and now must beat Qatar. They will also hope Paraguay do not beat Colombia and not finish third place. Messi was again the only player to show up as Argentina continue to disappoint. The rest of the team is not providing solutions for the Barcelona superstar in needs of help.
Argentina must change the system to avoid an early exist. With their starting XI, it is unbelievable how underperforming the Albiceleste is.
The manager Scaloni is also not the solution and has already shown he is not the man for the job. Unfortunately great managers like Tata Martino and Diego Simeone are not available. The Federation must step up before it is too late.
Paraguay coach Berizzo on getting a point from Argentina:
“We played a defensively game, in general, very solid, our defense won in one on one duels against their attacking players.
We stopped the position of Messi very well, we obstructed his game and we did not let play many of his teammates as well”.
