Premier League week 37

Manchester City will be crowned champions of England with a win at Brighton next week. The Citizens fought hard to overcome Leicester City 1-0 with a fantastic goal from their captain Vincent Kompany. The Belgian international scored one of the best goals of the season, the most important of his career and for his club in the Premier League this year.

Manchester City control destiny with a two-point advantage over Liverpool and one more game to play.

Guardiola shares his happiness after this game:

“Of course, we are so happy because with no win it would be almost impossible to win title. We celebrate on the pitch today and it was nice to win last game at home.

Last two or three months the support has been incredible. Leicester are so dangerous. They wanted to play but i not expect them to defend so deep. The players are mature, and we have one more game. It will be tough in Brighton. They took a result at Arsenal. We played few weeks ago against them (in the FA Cup semi-final) and it was tough.

They will play for pride but it’s in our hands. We were seven points behind but we never give up. We are still there and we win 13 games in a row. Knowing how difficult it is and to handle the emotions. Knowing if we do not win, we cannot be champions. We have pressure because it is in our hands. We deserve to be in that position we have one more game and we will try.

There are important players in that club, it is more than one century history this club, not a lot of titles in trophy cabinet but a lot of players help us to be where we are right now. When fit Vinny is an incredible player. He is real defender with personality and leader happy for him for the club and everybody.”
