Bundesliga week 14:

Borussia Dortmund are the team to beat this year in the German Bundesliga league. After a rough start to the season, Bayern Munich are finally cruising. Still they are 9 points behind the leaders and they recently lost against them.

Betting on the next Bundesliga champion this season is definitely more interesting. Bayern are going for a straight 7th title and Dortmund will be their toughest opponents.

Since 2013, Bayern has won all Bundesliga league titles and before them BVB had won back-to-back titles. Bayern won 27 league titles and Dortmund only 5, tied with Mönchengladbach.

Next up are Ajax Amsterdam (Champions League matchday 6), Hannover 96 and  Red Bull Leipzig which have been playing very well the last couple years and fourth in the standings. The Bavarians can no longer give up points on the way as they lost already too many losing times in the first 14 matches.

Coach Bayern Munich, Kovac, comments on the current form:

“We allowed them hardly anything over 90 minutes today. We created a lot of chances. It was important to keep a clean sheet, not to squander the lead and hurt our confidence by conceding goals. Positive results are always important.

We’ve won our last three matches, and I’m satisfied with the way we did. We kept a clean sheet. That’s always important because conceded many goals and squandered our lead in the last few matches, especially at home.”

The club also set goals for the remaining of the games in 2018 to finish off the year in the best way possible.

“We have enough time to regenerate. I know the lads, they won’t overdo it. We want to keep going. Now we go to Amsterdam. We want to finish first in the group, it’s important to us. Ajax are strong opponents. They’ve already shown at the Allianz Arena how good they are. They have a lot of young players. We’re determined to turn in a different performance than in the first leg.

We still have four matches, ideally you’ll win all four – and if so we’ll have a merry Christmas and good prospects for the new year.”
