Bundesliga week 10

This year the Bundesliga is more competitive as BVB Dortmund increase lead on top of the table. The are the only team undefeated in the league with seven wins out of ten games and four points clear over Bayern Munich after winning 1-0 at Wolfsburg.

The Bavarians signed another bad performance with a draw at home against modest team of Freiburg [1-1]. More than ever coach Kovac is under pressure and could likely be sacked before the season ends. Indeed, Bayern Munich lost two games already.

BVB coach, Favre comments on the hard-fought away win:

“We defended very well as a team and that’s why we didn’t give many clear-cut chances away. We could’ve definitely scored one or two more through the chances we had. But we can’t score three or four goals in every game.

We’re all looking forward to the match against Munich, but our focus is now on Atlético Madrid. We won the first leg 4-0 and we’re sure that they’ll want to show a reaction. It’ll be a tough game, but first of all we need to prepare for it.”

Coach Kovac on another disappointing performance:

“We got off to a good start, we were very flexible, moved well and let the ball do the work. We tried to attack down the wings, but it was difficult because they doubled up on us. So we had to try it down the centre, which wasn’t exactly empty either. We should have scored the opener through Lewandowski. It would have been much easier then.

We ran up in the second half and took the lead, and we as FC Bayern mustn’t squander it. We have to clear the ball earlier instead of playing the ball at the back. But it is as it is. It was in the 89th minute against Augsburg too, so we’re talking about four points. We’re disappointed.”
