2019 Copa America Semifinal
Brazil will play the final of its Copa America after controlling and defeating Argentina 2-0. The Brazilians will host either Chile or Peru for the final at the Maracanã stadium.
The 5-time World Champions was effective and scored two goals, one in each half, to get through the final match. The Argentinean team which did not surrender and fought from the begin to the end.
Brazil has knocked Argentina out of the CONMEBOL Copa America the last five times they have played; the previous occasions had been in the quarterfinals of 1995 and 1999, and in the finals of 2004 and 2007.
Roberto Firmino assisted the first goal and scored the second one for Brazil against Argentina; the striker has participated in five of ten goals for the Brazilians in the Copa América 2019 (he scored two goals and gave three assists).
Argentina, Messi’s failure
The Copa America was probably Lionel Messi‘s last chance to win anything with his country. But like in the previous tries, the superstar failed to perform and scored only one goal the entire tournament. Argentina do not know how to defend and were not able to find Messi enough for him to score.
Messi is a club legend and a good international player, the debate for him to be the greatest ever will always weight in the fact he never won anything with his nation. Argentina have had some of the best talent the past decade but are incapable of putting a string of good games together. They have a glorious past under Maradona and a series of failure under Messi. This is a fact.
This is now Brazil’s Copa America to lose as they head to Rio and the Maracanã as heavy favorites.
