Premier League: Arsenal 1-0 Newcastle

Ozil gives three important points for Arsenal in the game somewhat boring. The Gunners remain in the top four five points behind Chelsea and Machester United and 19 behind the uncontested leaders Manchester City. Coach Wenger comments on the victory:

“When you don’t score as much as you want, sometimes you look at every single thing and that is why I went for it. It was a bit nervy at the end, because we had not taken our chances. We couldn’t finish the game off. But what is most important today is the three points.

I knew before the game that this is a tricky one because we play three games in six days and that we have not rotated a lot. So I thought it could be a tricky one, but as well the three points tonight are a relief for the team and overall we deserved it.

You would think that today you are always very quickly under pressure as a football player. When you do not score for one or two games everyone asks why it hasn’t happened. But if you look historically it happens every year. The finishing is a bit cyclic, sometimes you will score three or four, with every chance, and sometimes like today you will have six or seven chances and score only one. It’s part of it, and you need to live with it. I’m know people are not happy with it, but it’s part of the game”.
