Brazil vs. Chile

Another time both South American sides will face in the Round of 16. in 2010 Brazil disposed of Chile 3-0 at the same stage. But this year Chile seems better armed against a host country.

 Luis Scolari, Brazil coach:

“I’ve come up against Chile twice before and remember how difficult it was for us. They’re a typical South American side: they’re cunning, organised and have quality. If I could, I’d pick a different team for us to face. Now we have made it to the last 16 with confidence and that boosts our chances. Since the first game we have improved as we hoped to do.” Chile are a team who deserve to be there. They have a philosophy of playing good football. They have lots of pace and excellent players.”

Carlos Vidal, Chile midfielder:

“I’ll play the round of 16 match on Saturday. I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Brazil has often been Chile’s nemesis but football changes, new generations come and new players appear. Chile can create a surprise. We’ve beaten the world champions, so we can beat Brazil.”
