First day of training will take place at Chiefs Indoor Practice Facility at 10 a.m. CT on Tuesday

(January 21, 2011) – Sporting Kansas City will begin their 2011 pre-season with the team’s first day of training on Tuesday, January 25th at 10:00 a.m. CT at the Kansas City Chiefs Indoor Practice Facility. All members of the media are invited to attend, and interviews with Sporting Kansas City players and coaches will be available immediately following the training session at approximately 11:45 a.m. CT.

The team will train in Kansas City for four days next week, Tuesday through Friday, before departing for Phoenix, Arizona on January 31st to continue their eight-week pre-season preparations at the Reach 11 Sports Complex. Please note that next week will be the only opportunity for in-person interviews until the team resumes training in Kansas City on March 14th.

All training sessions next week are open to the media and will be held at the Kansas City Chiefs Indoor Practice Facility, located west of Arrowhead Stadium at the Truman Sports Complex. Media members are asked to please park in the gravel lot on the west side of the practice facility and enter through the doors on the west side of the building.

Sporting Kansas City’s pre-season roster includes the return of last year’s leading scorer Kei Kamara, 2010 MLS All-Star Jimmy Nielsen and captain Davy Arnaud. All players will be available for interviews, including team newcomers: Designated Player Omar Bravo, defender/midfielder Luke Sassano and the 2011 draft class which includes first-round pick C.J. Sapong.

Sporting Kansas City forward Teal Bunbury will also be back in Kansas City after his three-week training camp with the U.S. Men’s National Team, which culminates with the United States’ first international match of 2011 against Chile this Saturday at 9:00 p.m. CT at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. The Kansas City chapter of the American Outlaws supporters group is hosting a watch party at Johnny’s Tavern in the Power & Light District for the match, which will be telecast live on Telefutura and ESPN3.
