The Academy was founded in September 2014 and the aim is to also create an every day environment designed to produce the next generation of players in this version of soccer. The academy will stage tournaments locally and also create opportunities for international appearances. The first tournament is scheduled to start this weekend at the academy base at Soccer Town in Pembroke Pines. It is the brainchild of Trinidadian businessman and Soccer enthusiast Sham Mohammed.
The aim is also to have youngsters to evolve as a better player in the future where opportunities for University scholarships or professional contracts for the full version of soccer (eleven-a-side) can be attained.
Soares is excited over the new venture, saying “It’s a fantastic avenue for developing soccer players from a young age. It’s a smaller version of the game which means the players are constantly involved and they are thinking during every moment. It prepares them for the game later down in their careers where they can aspire to play professionally, or with Colleges and other clubs.”
“We also intend to create opportunities for players to make a national team for participation in international tournaments in places such as Brazil and Dubai.”
