MLS week 9
The clash of the weekend in the MLS opposed two of the best teams in the League so far this season, Seattle and LAFC. Both club have had a tremendous start of the season and clearly send themselves apart from the rest of the pack.
In this afternoon game, it was vital not to arrive late as the Sounders took advantage of LAFC’s mistakes with just 45 seconds in to net the first goal in this game. Still, it only took three additional minutes for the visitors and Vela, who scored his 11th goal this season, to tie it up at one a piece. The scoreboard would not then change to the desperation of the late arriving fans!
Sounders also saw red early at the 20th minute mark and had to defend for most of the game keep the point. Seattle sit at third place in the Western conference standings. LAFC share best record with city rivals LA Galaxy.
Sounders coach, Schmetzer, shares his views:
“It’s pro sports, there are no moral victories. But this is about as close as it gets. What I’m most proud of out of that group is that they all came together.
After a tough week — it was their third game in eight days, some of them are tired and heavy legged — they actually came together as a group and formed a really strong bond amongst themselves that I know is going to help us down the road. Those kinds of matches are critical to have. It’s critical that your players step up.”
For LAFC coach, Bradley, the team could not make the plays when it mattered but he has a great confidence in his guys as they lead the MLS standings altogether.
