William Anderson to Be Honored as Saturday’s RSL/American Express “Hero Among Us”

Real Salt Lake and American Express are proud to recognize William Anderson as Saturday’s recipient of the “Heroes Among Us” honor.

After being diagnosed in April with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Anderson was nominated for his courage, inspiring attitude and continued bright outlook on life. When he isn’t at the hospital, William spends his time playing soccer, being active outdoors, and even finds time to continue his schooling. He began his most recent treatment this week at Primary Children’s Medical Center, where his favorite mascot, Leo the Lion, came to visit.

Anderson’s treatments haven’t affected his love for soccer, however, as he can be found cheering on his team during their games, and hopes to join them back on the field next season. William would eventually like to follow in the footsteps of his favorite player, Kyle Beckerman, and suit up for Real Salt Lake.
