Ligue 1 week 30: Troyes 0-9 Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain dominated the Ligue 1 2016-16 championship for a 4th straight title and their 6th overall.

Ibrahimovic scored a quadruple to complete a fabulous week after the Champions League victory 2-1 at Chelsea. PSG walks on the French Ligue and has no competition provided the other clubs have no chance to compete. Only Lyon and Real Madrid have beaten the French club this year.

Here are the reactions to the title celebrations:

Laurent Blanc (Paris Saint-Germain coach):
“We really got the job done, especially in the second half. There are lots of people who will have something to say about what we have achieved this season. My players have been very professional, right from the first league match, which has yielded countless points and wins. And the title after 30 matches. Now we’ll be able to comfortably rotate the squad and rest some players. The toughest thing will be to play another month’s worth of competition, knowing that our season isn’t over yet. But it leaves us the luxury of being able to rest certain players for league matches. We won’t be neglecting our league duties though, we’ll be taking them as seriously as possible. We’ll try to make it to the finals of both domestic cups and we’ll do all we can to go as far as possible in the Champions League. We’ll just have to make the best of whatever tie we’re handed in the draw.”

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi (Paris Saint-Germain President):
“We’ll celebrate tonight but we need to stay focused. It’s very important to become champions quickly. We’re on the right track. We’ve been playing well since the beginning of the season; we’ve been focused since our opening day match against Lille, when we won despite being a man down. In the Champions League, the draw will be very important for everyone. We’ll need a bit of luck there if we’re to go as far as possible. But we have to be capable of beating any team. We’re ready and we hope to go as far as possible.”

Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain defender):
“We need to continue like this. Our mentality is to always go for the win, while respecting the other teams. We just need to respect our opponents and play our game.”

David Luiz (Paris Saint-Germain defender):
“We’re very happy. It’s a pleasure to play for this team. I’m a lucky guy; I’m doing the job I love, I’m enjoying myself and I play for a big club. I think Paris is an amazing place, and I’m very happy to play here. I love Paris, I love the club and I love the city.”
