PSG 1-1 Valencia

Home side reactions:

Carlo Ancelotti (Paris Saint-Germain coach):
“Over both legs, I think we deserved to qualify. This evening was harder than the first leg. In the first half, we played with a bit of fear in the belly. Ironically, we started to play better after Jonas scored and we played well in the second half. The players showed a great reaction.”

Salvatore Sirigu (Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper):
“We were very wary of this Valencia side and we are very happy because it’s exceptional to be in Europe’s last eight. The fans pushed us all the way and that’s the atmosphere we need here. Obviously it’s very exciting to have the chance to play in the quarter-finals.”

Blaise Matuidi (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder):
“We are really delighted to have qualified. It was very difficult as we were up against an excellent Valencia side, but we stayed solid at the back, well-organised in defence and took advantage of a counterattack to qualify. We had confidence in our ability, we knew we would answer the challenge for this big match and that’s what we did. This is a great moment for the club, everyone is behind us here in Paris. What we have achieved is incredible because we’ve made the quarter-finals in our first season back in the Champions League.”
