PSG 1-2 Saint-Etienne:
PSG suffer first loss of the season as Ibrahimovic got sent off.
Carlo Ancelotti (Paris Saint-Germain coach):
“I think we deserved to lose this evening because Saint-Étienne were the better team and played with more rhythm. We were lacking something this evening. We used up a lot of energy against Marseille on Wednesday. Perhaps that explained why we lacked freshness. Obviously we’re disappointed. Now we have to look ahead to our next match in the Champions League.”
Mamadou Sakho (Paris Saint-Germain defender and captain):
“We didn’t see a great Paris Saint-Germain this evening. We didn’t play as well as we can. We didn’t play with enough rhythm. I said at the start of the season that our biggest rival was ourselves. Tonight we conceded two goals from two individual errors from us. This result should spark us back to our best.”
Javier Pastore (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder):
“The result is the right one because Saint-Etienne played better than us. To get back to winning ways we just have to get back to playing the way we know how. It’s not a catastrophe because there’s still a long way to go this season. We have to learn from this result so that it doesn’t happen again. We have another important Champions League on Tuesday and we are already focused on that against Dinamo Zagreb.”
