Arsenal win 3rd straight Premier League game
Arsenal win again for the third consecutive time in the League. The game in Newcastle [1-2] was solid and Xhara and Ozil were the two players on the scoreboard for the Gunners.
Arsenal sit now at the 7th place and can look ahead after a very difficult start of the season. Indeed, Arsenal had lost their first two games of the season [worst start since 1992] and the post-Wenger area was going to be tough for the former PSG coach Emery.
Emery’s patience is paying off
But, the Spaniard has been patient and his work is slowly paying off while his international payers return to form. The football produced has been good and the defense has improved since the opening two games against Man City and at Chelsea.
Busy schedule ahead.
Next comes the Europa League and another League game on Sunday where Arsenal will look to get two wins at home. The schedule will get significantly busier for the Gunners as they embark into another European campaign.
Coach Emery comments on the win:
“In the first half we didn’t control the match like we wanted to. Also, we needed that control to input our ideas. We conceded a lot of chances for transitions and counter-attacks, but not giving away major chances.
They had a lot of corners and a lot of possibilities to arrive in our box. In the second half, the balance on the pitch was better – our positioning and when we were attacking we didn’t make the transition easy for us.
I think the key is the first goal. This goal gave us the confidence to continue to improve in the match. We finished the match with the result.
We need to push for ourselves and also the challenge. One challenge is to have better performances away and to be more competitive and to have a lot of chances to win. This needs to be done with consistency and our demands are very hard.
We need to continue because we need to prove that we’re being more competitive and I think that’s one of the important things that the team showed us.”
