MLS week 3

Toronto FC continue perfect start as they destroy rivals NYFC 4-0. For his first match with the Reds, Spaniard Pozuelo scored two goals. His first one was a Panenka penalty and the second one, a superb chip into the net (see below).

Pozuelo is a new name to follow in the MLS and he already showed bits of his greatness in his debut.

TFC coach, Vanney, hails his players for the great performance:

“Phenomenal team performance I think tonight. For the better part of 90 minutes we had things under control, we played really good soccer. We had nice control of the game defensively, good shape. We showed mobility and continuity for a group of players that have not played a lot together.

On Pozuelo:

He reminds me of Iniesta. The way he moves side-to-side, his quickness. The thing about Pozuelo: you don’t know which foot he is, he’s the same with both. That’s a huge advantage. Defenders don’t know which way he’s going to go. That makes him even more dangerous.

“The chip was outrageous. It’s one of those things you see from the bench, but you don’t think he’s really going to chip from there. The level of difficulty to score like that in your debut, that’s 10 out of 10 from me, for balls and skill and technique. It was something to see.”
