MLS 2017 – week 1: Orlando City 1-0 New York City FC

The Orland City stadium was inaugurated on February 24th, 2017. A few days later Larin entered in orlando’s history by becoming the first player to score in the Orland City stadium. Besides, it was the only goal of the game for a short victory. Bad note is Kaka’s leg injury who is set to be sidelined for 6 weeks, a serious blow for Orlando.

Orlando Coach Kreis mentions the impact of the crowd:

“Not that it surprises me, every time I’ve been at a game in Orlando I’m absolutely wowed by the fans. Tonight was no different. And I think they are a huge, huge part of the three points.

Obviously extremely pleased to get a result, extremely happy to give the fans something to be excited about. The crowd was absolutely fantastic, the stadium is fantastic, the field was great. The level of work and commitment and togetherness by our team was off the charts. And in a few weeks, we’ll get to do it all over again. This is only the beginning.”
