President Aulas shared his opinion after miracle win 7-1 at Zagreb and qualification to Champions League round of 16.

“I’m immensely proud. We have just witnessed an incredible event in not only the history of OL, but in the history of the Champions League, because nobody had ever done what Olympique Lyonnais did tonight. Above and beyond the pride, it’s a wonderful reward for the supporters, the club board, the coaching staff and the players. We’ve come from so far back, we’re over the moon.

“Honestly, I didn’t think it was possible at half-time. I didn’t go down to the changing rooms because I didn’t think we could do it. The second half was fantastic from the first whistle. We experienced 45 incredible minutes of football, of quality, of ruthless efficiency in front of goal, and of the surrender of the opposition. Moments like these, you remember for the rest of your life.

“We knew that things were going well for Real Madrid because we were following the result. The first phone call I made was to Real president Florentino Perez because Real Madrid did what they had to do and respected the competition and even with our performance tonight, without Real’s win, we wouldn’t be in the last-16. This is the ninth qualification in a row. Everyone thought the series was to end at eight, but that’s nine (my favourite number, by the way). I think it’s also Bernard’s favourite number.

“It’s also a great result for France because after OM’s qualification yesterday, it will see France earn important Index points over Portugal.
