Coach Villano  reacts after new record for Messi

Messi supasses  now Pele’s mark of most goals scored in a calendar year
Of his 76 goals, 64 were scored for Barça and 12 for Argentina

With his brace this Sunday against Mallorca, Messi has notched up 76 goals in 2012, one more than the mark set by Pelé in 1958. “Leo continually breaks records. His goal tally is spectacular. It takes other great players seven or eight seasons to score the amount of goals he scores in one season. Also, some of his goals are absolute beauties,” said the manager when asked about Barça’s number 10.

Finally, Vilanova praised Cristian Tello: “We know what he’s capable of. He played a great game. He hasn’t has a lot of minutes on the pitch lately. I believe that he’s improved a lot on defence, he’s becoming a more complete player on a daily basis.” The manager also talked about Piqué: “It’s good news that he was able to play the 90 minutes. It gives us a lot of tranquility, he brings a lot to the team.”

Tito Vilanova reiterated that Barça will continue to play with the style that’s defined the team’s play for the past five years. “We want to have the ball and always attack, but we don’t always play the same way,” said the manager, who added: “Within our Plan A, we have a plan B, C, and D … we know how to win.”
