MLS Sebastian Giovinco sets single-season record for combined goals and assists. He is very likely to be named mvl of the season.
Toronto FC 3-2 Chicago Fire
With his two assists on Saturday in Toronto FC’s 3-2 win over Chicago at BMO Field, Giovinco broke Chris Wondolowski’s mark of 34 combined goals and assists in a season (Wondo had 27 & 7 back in 2012). Giovinco now has 19 goals and 16 assists on the year, for a total of 35 combined.
Coach Greg Vanney comments on the comeback win:

Michael Bradley adds on: “The response to come back after going down twice was fantastic. This time of year, it’s all about finding ways to come away with points. The mentality, the commitment, the determination, to keep going even when we went down was very good. Days like this are important; to come into this locker room after the game, to be able look around, look each other in the eye, and know that every guy spilled everything they had onto that field. These are important steps.”
