AC Milan coach, Massimiliano Allegri: “No Regrets”
“There’s no feeling of sadness; the team played a great game. Disappointed because we could have gone 2-0 up. I’ve got nothing to charge the referees with, we keep our mouths shut and let them work in peace. Bullying is not a part of my character. Maybe they were a bit nervous but I think that right now talking about these things serves no purpose. The players played a great game for 70 minutes. I think the league will be wide open right until the end. The disallowed goal was a big mistake this evening.
We didn’t miss any of our players this evening. The team did well. With Ibra and Boateng available I would have had more options on the bench. Pato came off at half time with some tight muscles and I didn’t want to risk him. Juventus didn’t have a single shot in the first half then we conceded a goal that we could have avoided. We could have done better with a couple of the chances we had. The referee did a very good job with this game; he didn’t get anything wrong, unfortunately his assistant slipped up a bit. ”
Juventus coach, Antonio Conte : “We did well to get back into the game”
Antonio Conte looked to congratulate Milan on their strong performance after tonight’s draw at the San Siro. The Rossoneri gave their visitors several problems with their purposeful display before the Bianconeri mounted a resounding fightback.
The 42-year old said: “Well done to Milan. They played 60 minutes at the highest level, causing us difficulty with their determination and running in spite of their absences. It was difficult to keep that tempo for longer and we did well and had an element of luck in getting back into it. Congratulations to my players who have big hearts.”
The game was a combative affair and Conte believes that certain incidents in the build-up could have contributed to the tensions on the pitch.
He concluded: “It was built up too much and there wasn’t a nice atmosphere for sport. It’s a shame to say it, but it’s right, because too many things happened that had nothing to do with football. There were also technical mistakes made tonight, one on their goal, where the ball had crossed the line, and another when Matri was in a regular position and flagged for offside.”
