Los Angeles – July 15, 2019 – Thousands of soccer fans of all ages stopped by Goals South Gate to take a photo with one of the most coveted trophies in all of soccer, and for youth to participate in the Manchester City Youth Soccer Academy with former team member Shaun Wright-Phillips. The English Premier League Trophy has been raised four times by Manchester City, including for the 2018-19 season.

Earlier this year, Manchester City introduced the Club’s first full-time recreational youth academy operation in the United States with permanent homes at the four Goals Soccer Centers in the greater Los Angeles area in the cities of South Gate, Pomona, Rancho Cucamonga and Covina.

The Academy, led by a team of Manchester City trained coaches, provides an authentic and creative 15-week soccer coaching program for players of all ages and abilities based on the coaching philosophy and methodology of Manchester City.

Former City player Shaun Wright-Phillips led a number of small-sided games for the youngsters  and commented: “It’s been a pleasure launching Manchester City Youth Soccer Academy this weekend and seeing the energy that’s going in to developing grassroots soccer in the US. The facilities are outstanding and it’s been great to see so many children having fun and enjoying soccer.”

The third season will begin in mid-October. For more information go to https://www.goals-soccer.com/mancitysocceracademy/
