Premier League week 14
Manchester City won 3-1 against Bournemouth at home while Manchester United came back from two goals down to get a point from bottom of the table team Southampton, final result 2-2.
The reality is one team will play for the title (Man City) and the other will play for the fourth place to go straight to Champions League (Man Utd). 16 points separate the leader City from seventh place United in just 14 games played…
City coach Guardiola on the win:
“It was a good winAfter the Champions League, it is always tough. People think it’s easy for us but that is not the truth so I like to win in this way. We had a lack of rhythm in the first half. Bournemouth are so fast up front and so hard to play against. They put so many balls into the box – they are so strong.
We were flat but after, we were more aggressive and we changed the game. I asked them for more at half-time but my speech was ridiculous because in the first five or ten minutes, it didn’t work – it was the same as the first half!
Raheem Sterling changed the game and Leroy Sane was fantastic too. I don’t know what he ate but it will be on the menu for the next games!
What we have done in the Premier League is incredible and it means a lot to me. It’s not one or two games – it’s every day, every day, every day. Maybe today, we didn’t make a good performance for 90 minutes but 75 was good.
It is a lesson we have to learn, how to win when we are tired. Maybe in the future, it is going to help us to do what we’re trying to do. It’s too early to see how decisive it is. Our success in the last 15 months has come because we don’t care too much about what our opponents do.
To become a good club, you have to win titles again and again. We have a lot of points in the league and we qualified in the Champions League with one game left. I am so delighted today – more than the last games – for the way we won.”
