Juventus win at Inter and Napoli lose

Juventus Turin have made a big step forward to another title in Serie A after the team dramatic comeback victory at Inter Milan combined with the Napoli defeat at Fiorentina.

Last week Napoli obtain a sensational result by at Juventus and won 1-0 at the last minute. The two clubs were then separated by only one point and everyone in Italy thought the reign of Juventus might be over. But following the weekend’s results it is back to square one.

Juventus lead Napoli with four points and only three more games to play giving the current champions a significant edge over their rivals.

Coach Juve Allegri on the big win:

“It was a wonderful evening of football: the crowd were magnificent and they witnessed a great match. We’ve taken another step forward. We played well in the first half and less well in the second,.

When we ease off and knock the ball about we risk dozing off. Once we start moving it around slowly it’s hard to get going again. When we got closer to their area they dropped off a little physically, as you’d expect because they played 70 minutes with a man down.”

Napoli coach Sarri on the disappointing result:

“I don’t know what happened, because in the past we’ve always stuck together as a team. We’ve had a long season so far – we’ve been going all over Europe since August. Perhaps a mental dip is to be expected at this point of the season, but I’m surprised because we’d always been able to fight back in games before.

I want to thank the fans for their support thus far and my hope is that we turn in a big performance on Sunday for them.

We must try and bounce back at the first time of asking because there are still three games to go and most of all we need to improve our points tally because we still have a chance of breaking our record haul.”
