Juventus are strong when it matters
Juventus went to Milan and beat the best team in the Serie so far, Inter 2-1, thanks to a goal from Higuain in the last 10 minutes. With the victory, Juventus leapfrog Inter to take the lead in Serie A.
This was the game of the weekend in the major European championships when the two top teams in Italy face for an exciting match. Inter Milan has won their first 6 matches to lead the League with 18 points, two points in front of Juve with 16 points.
Dybala on the scoresheet
It only took 4 minutes for Juventus Turin to lead at the San Siro stadium for the Argentine international to score his first goal of the season.
Inter reacted quickly and got awarded a penalty at the 17th minute, converted by Lautaro Martinez. The Argentina striker also scored at Camp Nou against Barcelona during the week. The game will stay close and undecided until the last 10 minutes of the match. Another Argentine Gonzalo Higuain who came in qt the hour mark found the net to give Juventus a precious win at the expense of its rival.
Coach Juventus, Sarri on the big result:
“It was an important victory, Inter is so far the most solid team in the league, with six wins out of six games prior to tonight. We had a great match and we won it. We entered the game with a good approach, and we deserved to win. Twenty-four passes for Higuain’s goal? It depends on the quality of the players, who can play long and well when they are shiny.
From this point of view, we have already taken important steps, what we need to work on is dominating the match, having territorial supremacy, pressing better and more, taking away any attacking initiative from the opposition so that we can spend our whole time in the opposition half.
We have room for improvement, we are not 100% yet. The team is strong and so we can get the results. Dybala, Higuain and Ronaldo together? I got the sensation from the touchline that the momentum was turning the other way. So I changed again, unfortunately perhaps at a time when Paulo was tired.”
Back-to-back losses
Inter has lost two important matches this week with the same result 2-1. For coach Conte this is part of the experience as his team learns:
“It was a match against a very, very strong team and I’m sorry about the loss. There were chances at both ends but they scored, using everything in their arsenal and making their experience count.
I don’t have anything to say to the guys. We still have a long way to go in terms of how we manage and understand moments in a match. Congratulations to them, we’ll roll up our sleeves and keep working hard to move forward on our journey. There are no shortcuts in this regard, they’re at a different level and we’re looking to improve so that we can close the gap.
We could have done better with our finishing and the final ball but the team did what it could. Looking at the statistics, it was a closer game than perhaps shows on paper.”
