Serie A week 17: Capri 2-3 Juventus

After a very difficult start of the season, Juventus is now sitting at the second place of the table 3 points behind leader Inter Milan. The latter lost at home 1-2 to Lazio.

Coach Allegri comments on the great comeback right before the Christmas break:

There was a fair bit of confusion towards the end. Let’s not forget that we conceded a last-minute equaliser against Frosinone in what was a similar match to today’s” – Juventus conceded a goal at last minute and almost gave up another one a few second after as Capri almost equalized.

“Despite this, we’ll also take stock of the things we did well: sealing a crucial victory and in tricky circumstances, given that Carpi had just won away to Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia. In addition, it was difficult to move the ball about on a sticky pitch, but we coped commendably with the conditions and put in a good performance up until the final five minutes.

At the start we weren’t so compact. Marco Borriello and Antonio Di Gaudio were effective outlets and enabled them to break with pace. We responded very well to their goal and never really looked back from there.

What happened in the closing stages of the match will serve as a lesson for 2016, when we’ll need to maintain our focus better in the final minutes. Now we’ve a well-deserved break, after which we need to keep working hard until 16 May.”
