Serie A week 8

Another day in Italian Serie A and another win for Juventus. The Bianconeri are unstoppable. It’s been the 10th consecutive win for the club so far this season. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his fourth goal of the season and gave himself a break after a difficult week punctuated by rape allegations about ten years ago.

Juventus lead Serie A with no rivals and the season could be wrapped very early.

Coach Allegri on the win:

“That was one of our best performances of the season so far – perhaps the absolute best,” the boss claimed after the final whistle.

We used all of the pitch well and afforded the opposition very little all game. I asked the lads to give me a relaxing international break and to keep a clean sheet. There was a risk we might have let up a little today after nine wins but we played with great maturity.

We’re improving our possession play. We’re shifting the ball around more quickly and not rushing moves as much as we used to.

We defended well and we were excellent up front. We’re stringing moves together well and the three forwards are doing a good job of taking up different positions. We have some very skillful players and we’re in good physical shape but we still welcome the break.

Cancelo is a fabulous player from a technical point of view. In the first half he got caught out a couple of times because he relies on his pace a bit too much. That’s something he needs to work on but overall he had a great game today.

Bentancur played very well in a slightly more advanced midfield role. I’m happy with him.”
