MLS week 2: Houston Dynamo 5-0 FC Dallas

Houston sent a message to rivals and routed Dallas in the Texas derby.

Coach Owen Coyle comments:

“We knew it was going to be a very tough encounter and we were going to have to be at our best – and we were,” Coyle said. “We’re sure that we have quality and we’re sure that we can play at that level and cause the best teams trouble. We can stand toe-to-toe with the best, but what we need is do it on a consistent basis and if we do it, then that will take us where we need to be.

It gives us a lot of confidence going forward. Our goal leading up to this game was to go the whole 90 minutes or 95 minutes; whatever it is going to be, we had to be focused, locked in and limit their chances. This is a whole new team. New guys that are out there – we showed tonight that we’re fun to watch and we’re going be tough going forward.

We have said from day one that we would be a very exciting team and a very disciplined team and we’ve showed both of those things tonight. We have to keep our confidence moving forward and defensively. I’ve we do that we are going to be a tough team to beat this year.”
