LEG 1 – Houston Dynamo 2-0 SpoRting Kansas

LEG 2 – Sporting Kansas 1-0 Houston Dynamo

The Houston Dynamo have clinched a spot in the Eastern Conference Championship following their 2-1 series win over Sporting Kansas City. Houston will not learn their opponent until Thursday night when the New York Red Bulls and D.C. United conclude their series.

Regardless of the opponent, the Dynamo will host the first match of the conference championship at BBVA Compass Stadium on Sunday, November 11 at 3 p.m. Although the Dynamo fell to Sporting KC 1-0 tonight at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, Houston advanced to the Eastern Conference Championship with a 2-1 aggregate victory. Sporting Kansas City’s goal arrived in the 64th minute. Kei Kamara played a short pass to Graham Zusi down the right flank. Zusi entered the penalty area before lofting a cross towards the back edge of the six-yard box, where Seth Sinovic headed the ball into the net for a 1-0 lead, cutting Houston’s aggregate lead to 2-1.
But the equalizer never arrived for Sporting KC, as Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall made three saves and the Dynamo defense thwarted Kansas City’s relentless attack.

The Dynamo are in the conference championship for the second-consecutive year and fifth time overall. Houston is 3-1-0 all-time in conference championships, including last year’s 2-0 win over Sporting KC at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park.

Houston finished the 2012 regular season undefeated at home (11-0-6) and currently has a 29-game home-unbeaten streak in all competitions.
