FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja on the match:

“Tonight was a great night for Major League Soccer. We saw two very good teams playing for the win and giving us all that they had and creating a lot of entertainment for the fans. Both teams played with a lot of intensity and desire. I think it is a step forward for the image we can give to the world.

I congratulate Patrick [Vieria] and my players, who gave us another great performance tonight. We could have come away with three points, but I have to say that we could have lost it too. We walk away with a point in a game that could have gave us more but it was a very good game”.

On coming off the U.S. Open Cup Championship on Tuesday…

“I walked into the locker room after the game and I saw people that were upset. They wanted three points. After the great achievement they had during the week… In the middle of the week they had to compete for a final. Today was a day where many people were curious to see us boning from a final, back to league play. It was a very emotional week. I thought the boys showed again their character and that their commitment is full.

I came into the locker room and everyone was upset. They just won a title. Three days ago, they were celebrating the club’s first title in 19 years. Tonight I found people that wanted more… More than a point on the road against the leader of the other conference… That is not a bad feeling”.

Could you look ahead and see this as a potential MLS Cup Final?

“I’d like to think so… People will come to watch performances like tonight with so many good players. It was difficult for me to stop our players from going for the win. I was asking them to close out the game with seven minutes to go and they wanted more. I know Patrick [Vieria] felt the same way because New York was not playing defensively. They were looking for the three points”.

NYCFC head coach Patrick Viera on the draw:

“For us to take something from that game, we needed to be in our best and I think today we showed a lot of character because it was a really tough game for us.

We created a few chances and we had a chance of course to win it at the end – to lose it as well. But I think the people at the stadium and in front of the TV would enjoy the game because it was a tough tempo and a good game of football.”
