A much anticipated La Liga opposition in between the two best teams in Spain – FC Barcelona and Atletico de Madrid. The difference is named Lionel Messi. The Argentine unlocked the game with a goal at the 85th before his teammate Luis Suarez added the final blow to Atlético less than 60 seconds after.
Victorious at home 2-0, the Catalans have surely guaranteed a 26th La Liga title with 11 points in command over Atletico and only 7 matches to play in the league.
Coach Valverde knows the title is almost there:
“We have to keep pressing until the end of the season and there were three vital points we took today to achieve our goal.”
Atlético coach, Simeone acknowledged Barça’s superiority:
“We put a lot of effort and hard work into the game. I think that we played well in the second half. Our goal is to go as far as possible. We were playing very well before the red card. Playing with 10 men against one of the best teams in the world is always difficult.
The team fought hard with ten men and we even had a couple of chances. Now we have to focus on the next game and try to finish the league in the best possible position,”
