La Liga week 13

FC Barcelona and Real Madrid share the command of LaLiga with 25 points each but the Catalans are in front with a better goal difference (+18 to +16).

FC Barcelona took the best of Celta Vigo with a hat-trick from Lionel Messi [4-1], its 6th, 7th and 8th goals of the season in just 7 games played.

On the other hand Real Madrid outrageously dominated Eibar 4-0 away with a brace from Benzema. The Frenchman scored his 8th and 9th goal of the season and has become the best scorer in the league.

Coach Zidane has recorded a series of good results to keep his job.

Zidane on the large win:

I’m very pleased. The important thing is to give it everything we have from the beginning to the end. We did so at a tough place to come and against good opposition. The first half was very good today and we’re happy with the win. Not much has changed. What we did after our loss in Mallorca was think about how we had to work harder. We did that today and believed in our quality.

That’s five clean sheets now and we’re very pleased. We were able to limit their qualities and we know we can do great stuff with the ball. It may have been the best 45 minutes since I came back but we did a good job against Galatasaray too. We’re happy with the whole performance.

For a coach to see all the players so focussed is great. They all have real quality and showed that today”.

Barcelona coach, Valverde, on Messi and the win.

“Messi’s free kicks were incredible. They gave us the win. Regardless of that I think in the second half, we played much better. In the opening 45 minutes we lacked pace in the game, Celta put pressure in the field.

In the first half, Celta changed their way of playing to try to surprise us, putting pressure in our own half and we had difficulties finding our attack. But in the second half we found our attack, our rhythm and were able to create good situations to get the win”.
