It was a mixed bag of results for Americans in the EPL this weekend, with the lone winner coming from Zak Whitbread and Norwich City’s win over West Brom.

Here is the Rundown…

Zak Whitbread played the full 90 in the Canaries 2-1 win over WBA. Whitbread was solid in defense, a defense that was regularly tested throughout the match as Albion controlled the majority of the play. The Canaries took a 1-0 lead into Halftime against the run of play, but were pegged back shortly after the break when Daniel Ayala committed a poor challenge in the box, which resulted in a Shane Long penalty conversion. Morrison was able to steal the game away for the Canaries late on with a true poachers finish off a well worked counter attack.

Here are the highlights-
Landon Donovan & Tim Howard both made significant contributions to the Toffees 1-1 draw with Aston Villa. Howard came up with 6 clutch saves to keep Villa at bay. Meanwhile, Donovan played the role supplier on Everton’s goal with a tidy through ball to Victor Anichebe, who slotted home. After the match, Everton Manager David Moyes, praised Donovan for his continued superb run of form and proclaimed Donovan as the man of the match for Everton.

A quick sidenote, Brad Guzan was relegated back to the bench for this game, as Villa’s number one keeper, Shay Given returned from injury. Unfortunate for Guzan, who had done exceptionally well by most standards during Given’s absence.

Clint Dempsey played the full 90 in a Fulham loss that will be considered a missed oppurtunity for the Cottagers. Fulham were given a man advantage inside of 25 minutes when Yakubu was shown a straight red for a studs up challenge. The Cottagers were not able to capitalize on the man advantage and succumbed to Rovers by a scoreline of 3-1.

Here are the highlights…

Last but not least, Brad Friedel and Spurs managed a 1-1 draw with Wolves. Tottenham went down early in this match, courtesy of a Steven Fletcher tap in against the run of play.

Spurs answered back in the early minutes of half two with a well worked goal, finished off by Luka Modric. Spurs dominated the majority of the match, as Friedel only needed to make 2 saves in an unlucky result for the London club.

A few quick notes on Americans else where in England…

– Newly acquired, George John, did not dress for West Ham United in their 1-0 win over Portsmouth.
