Bulgaria – England

England had a chance to secure their participation to the Euro 2020 tournament next year but suffered first loss in the qualifiers in Prague, Czech Republic 2-1.

They must find a response in the group last nation Bulgaria to stay on top of the group.

England coach Southgate comments on the game ahead:

“Always the level of performance, that has to be the start point. We have an opportunity to qualify [in Prague and Sofia] and if we can get that done this month then we can look towards the number of points we might need to be a seeded team as well.

The way we train every day leads into the level of performance and if that is good then you’re more likely to get the wins that you want at the end.

I thought the quality of our attacking play [last month] was excellent throughout. You only have to look at the number of goals we scored and the number of chances we created and the way our attacking play was.

Every month we go back through the games we’ve played and review what could be better and the areas we can improve on to be considered the best team in the world.

There’s a lot of work to do in that regard, but we feel we’re still improving all the time. I don’t think there’s been any regression and we’ve got to make sure we continue that.

England will qualify with a win in Bulgaria and a Kosovo loss. Regardless the Three Lions are in need of a positive results before the last two games.
