Best player in the world

Juventus 0-3 Real MadridReal Madrid cruised in Turin for the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals with a large victory thanks to a great team organization and one special man, Cristiano Ronaldo.

He is undoubtedly the best player in the world this season and shines every single match he enters the pitch for Real Madrid.

This year he established a new record by scoring in 10 consecutive Champions League matches, for a total of 38 goals in 34 matches for Real Madrid this year. He has now scored 119 goals in 149 Champions League games including 14 so far this year.

Ronaldo is the king of the Champions League and way ahead of Lionel Messi for that matter. He deserves all the credits.

Coach Real Madrid – Zidane comments on a magical night for his return to Turin where he played 5 years.

“It’s one of the most beautiful goals in the history of football. I’m Real Madrid coach but I’m also a football fan. When I see something like that… it’s only natural to put your hands on your head. I’m thrilled for him. He’s a unique player because he’s capable of these kinds of things.

I’m happy for Cristiano Ronaldo and we’re happy to have him in our team. It was a spectacular piece of skill. The home fans applauding Cristiano at the Juventus Stadium is a big gesture. They were behind and they kept cheering their team on. This kind of thing doesn’t happen everywhere.

Juventus enjoyed some good spells, in which they put us under the cosh, but we held firm. The 3-0 away win might flatter us a bit but the performance merited a result like that. We can be very pleased with our night’s work. Winning 3-0 away to Juventus doesn’t happen all that often”.

Coach Juventus – Allegri on the crucifying loss:

“I can’t fault my players at all: they playing against an amazing team and the best centre forward in the world, who has scored 14 goals in nine Champions League matches so far.

We must bounce straight back now and focus solely on Serie A. I’m annoyed about the third goal we conceded. We should have kept it at 2-0 and tried to turn the tie around Madrid. That’s now going to be extremely difficult.”
