Chivas USA will join PADRES Contra El Cancer at the 4th Annual Stand for HOPE 5K Charity Run/Walk, an event designed to raise money to support families and children with cancer. The event will include appearances by the ChivaGirls, the ChivaFighter mascot, the club’s street team, and dozens of Chivas USA staff members and fans, all on hand to show their support.  Chivas USA will also provide event organizers with a number of team-autographed merchandize items for participating children and families.

“PADRES Contra El Cancer is a wonderful organization, with meaningful values and an important mission.” said Nadia Gonzalez, Chivas USA Senior Manager of Community Affairs. “Our club is grateful for the opportunity to support them in every way we can.”

More than 1,000 individuals are expected to take part in the 5K Run/Walk. Participants will include pediatric cancer patients, their families, doctors and nurses.  Special celebrity guests include National Spokesperson Eva Longoria and PADRES Ambassadors: Beto Cuevas (musician), Cristian De La Fuente (actor), Amaury Nolasco (actor), Angelica Castro (actor), Yancey Arias (actor), Francisco Pinto (news anchor), Oskar Cartaya (musician) and Keven Ramirez (radio host).  Alongside our Ambassadors will be PADRES Supporters: Josie Loren (actor), Enrique Gutierrez (sports anchor), Enrique Castillo (actor) and Cassie Scerbo (actor).

This weekend’s event will serve as the first in a series of initiatives through which Chivas USA will aim to support PADRES Contra El Cancer throughout 2011.  Details of the year-long effort will be released later this year.
