FC Dallas acquires Uruguayan forward David Texeira from FC Groningen

He’s a striker who finishes, a striker who works extremely hard off the ball and is going to complement what we have already with Escobar, Diaz, Castillo and Blas (Perez),” said FC Dallas Technical Director Fernando Clavijo. “He’s a guy we have followed for a long time. He was probably one of the best players in the 2011 U-20 World Cup in Colombia and from there he went to the Netherlands right away. He’s a very talented young man and I don’t believe he has even reached his potential yet. He’s going to be an incredible addition to our roster.”

The 22-year-old forward has been with Eredevisie side FC Groningen since 2011, appearing in 65 matches and scoring 14 goals for the club. He spent the first three seasons of his career with Defensor Sporting in his home country, notching six goals in 22 appearances with the Primera Division club. Texeira also competed in the 2011 U-20 World Cup with the Uruguay U-20 National Team.
