Premier League and Europa League semifinal return leg
Chelsea got their top four spot following their victory 3-0 over Watford and the results of Arsenal and Manchester United. This is the first target for the club accomplished as the Blues aim at a trophy this year.
Coach Sarri on that first target done:
‘We want to be at the end of the Premier League in the top four. We want to play in the Champions League. The Europa League is very important and we want to win it, because we think we deserve to win a trophy this season. So we have two targets.’
Chasing the trophy, Chelsea scored an important away goal in Germany before the return leg in London against Frankfurt. They will hope to reach the Final in Baku at the end of the month.
The Blues are in strong position to reach the Europa League Final but will have to be more clinical in front of the goal. Indeed, they missed many chances to grab the win.
The coach added:
“1-1 away is not so bad. They are very dangerous at home, but unfortunately they are also very dangerous away. It depends on the second leg. We have to play at Stamford Bridge. We want the final, but we know we have to play a very good match next week.
Fortunately after the goal we started to play. We started to play after 25 minutes and we played very well until the 85th minute. We deserved to win for the number of goal opportunities. We were for 60 minutes in control of the match.
Three months ago we were in trouble in a difficult championship. It’s not easy to react. We were able to react. Now in the last 15 days of the season we are fighting for the top four, and we are fighting to reach the final of the Europa League. At the end of the season we deserve a trophy.”
