Bookmaker Unibet has announced a Wi-Fi and betting partnership with Scottish football champions Celtic FC.

The deal, brokered by sports media and digital marketing agency Sports Revolution, will see the team’s stadium Wi-Fi allow access to the Unibet website where fans can now live-bet on fixtures.

Sports Revolution, which developed the CelticLIVE app allowing access to Wi-Fi at Celtic Park, worked with Unibet to offer live odds to fans.

Since the firm implemented the CelticLive app in the stadium in 2013, it has been downloaded over 50,000 times with another 155,000 fans registering for stadium Wi-Fi.

Simon Hills, commercial director of Sports Revolution, said: “Stadium Wi-Fi has huge potential for commercial partners to offer services that enhance the matchday experience for fans.

“Betting is a perfect fit, especially as in-play odds complement the real-time content we are serving fans through the app.”

Ed Nicholson, head of UK marketing operations at Unibet, added: “We are excited by the potential of stadium Wi-Fi for matchday betting, allowing us to add a new dimension for fans.

“Live betting is the future of online sports betting, and this is a perfect way to fuel that demand and for us to make a mark. We expect it to take off with other clubs and wanted to get in early with this first application at the UK’s first fully connected stadium, Celtic Park.”
