Borussia Dortmund 4-2 Bayern Munich

Different Bayern players and coach Guardiola reacted after losing the first trophy of the season

Arjen Robben:

“We have to learn from that, we can go a long way this season!”. “We can’t be letting in four goals, “we threw it away.” We still need a little time before everything works the way we want it to work. “We have to have faith and continue along the path we’re following. We’re a super team.”

Coach Guardiola:

“We’ve lost 4-2, but I didn’t have the feeling Dortmund were much better than us. Overall, I’m satisfied with our performance and our attitude, but we were up against a good team. We still have ten days to get ready for the Bundesliga restart. “Overall, I’m satisfied with our performance and our attitude, we played pretty well and never gave up”. “We’ll correct our minor errors.”

Philipp Lahm:

“Obviously, we wanted to win today and take home the cup. We had the chances to do so, but it’s still pre-season. We didn’t score the goals at the right time today, and we conceded goals at the worst moments in time. We’ll analyse the game and then move on.”

On the other side, Dortmund staff was delighted after beating the Champions League winners.

Coach Jürgen Klopp:

“The great thing about the Super Cup is that the losers care not too much and the winners are happy. It was a fantastic game. After only a few weeks of preparations, both teams ran up and down the pitch like there would be no tomorrow. It was impressive. It´s great to have won. But our competition comes from 16 other teams. We don´t want to compete with Bayern all the time. But if we face them, we want to beat them.”

Roman Weidenfeller: “It was a great night! We played some outstanding football, were committed in every tackle and picked up a deserved win. If we stick to our plan, we have a chance against any team. We are happy to have won the Super Cup against a great team. We were already close to beating them in the Champions League final.”
